As a student, my favourite subject was English, and I especially loved writing assignments.
I attacked each project with vigor, turning 3-paragraph exercises into
lengthy exhaustive analyses;
and 1,500 word essays into voluminous chapter books.
My beloved 9th grade Language Arts teacher Dorothy Pogue
was the first person who recognized my passion for writing, frequently encouraging me
to submit the latest tale for extra credit.
On one such submission she commented
"A delightful anecdote, Deneise.
I always enjoy reading your tomes".
